Homeless ServicesTonight between 2,500 and 4,000 people in San Luis Obispo County will be looking for a place to sleep. A clean place. A safe place. And when morning comes, they will need help to regain the self-sufficiency - and self-confidence - they have lost to unemployment, addiction, illness, or simply life circumstances. Since 1989, the EOC's Homeless Services program has been working to meet the needs of the homeless in our county, offering emergency shelter, on-site information and referral services, and assistance in finding permanent housing. As with all of EOC's programs, the daily goal is to help clients achieve stability and self-sufficiency.
EOC Homeless Services owes much success to its partnerships with the County of San Luis Obispo; the cities of San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, and Grover Beach; the Interfaith Coalition for the Homeless; Friends of Prado; People's Kitchen; Housing Authority of San Luis Obispo; United Way; more than 300 community volunteers; and more than 900 donors and contributors from the private, business, educational and faith community sectors of San Luis Obispo County. Please call EOC to see how you could help. Donations of any size or type are always needed. Click here to download DOORWAYS, the Fall 2005 Homeless Services Newsletter.
