Are you interested in becoming a licensed Family Child Care Provider?

CALL CCRC FOR A CURRENT LIST OF WORKSHOPS IN YOUR AREA @ (888)727-2272

EOC Child Care Resource Connection can provide technical assistance and help guide you through the process of becoming a licensed family child care provider in your home. Family Child Care will enable you to stay home with your own children, own your own business, and help fill the need for child care slots in San Luis Obispo county.

The process is easy! Call a Child Care Services Specialist to discuss the process or any questions you may have.

1. Attend a licensing orientation held by Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing, on the second Wednesday of every other month from 9:30-12:00 at 805A Fiero Lane, San Luis Obispo.  Please call EOC CCRC at (888) 727-2272 to reserve your space. You will receive your licensing application, learn how to fill it out and discuss the rules and regulations of licensing.

2. Have a TB test done for each person 18 or over that lives in your home. The following Public Health Department locations offer low cost testing. The clearances from these tests must be sent in with your application.

  • SLO 781-5500
  • Atascadero 461-6050
  • Grover Beach 473-7050
  • Morro Bay 772-6380
  • Paso Robles 237-3050
  • 3. Attend 15 hours of EMSA (Emergency Medical Service Authority) approved health and safety training. This requirement can be met by attending a seven hour Preventative Health and an eight hour Pediatric CPR and First Aid class. These classes are held every month. There are scholarships available to assist with the costs of these classes.

    4. Once your application has been reviewed, Community Care Licensing will send you a facility number and fingerprinting information. You and anyone over 18 that lives in your home can go to the following locations to have your fingerprints taken through Livescan, an expedited computer fingerprinting process:

  • Paso Robles Police Department (805) 237-4089
  • County Department of Education (805) 782-7236
